Intraoral - Extraoral Cameras - Dental Imaging 
Intraoral cameras are an excellent means of allowing the patient to view potential dental conditions in their own mouth. It is much easier to understand what is happening in your mouth if you can see the problem on a computer monitor or as a digital 'print out' [picture]. This digital image can be utilized to provide information to insurances and other doctors if necessary.
Use of Intra-oral imaging is routine and considered 'standard of care' procedure in this office. Documentation visually of 'what is there' is a tremendous benefit in then explaining to our patients conditions found and treatment options - as well as showing before, during and after pictures for better understanding of procedures too. Also, imaging is a very valuable 'tool' when dealing and submitting pre-determinations and dental insurance claims. The old phrase: 'a picture is worth a thousand words' is many times a true statement.
Oral Imaging is obtained by the use of the Intra-oral camera as well as Extra-oral digital cameras. These digitatl iamges are stored in the patient's electronic record/chart and are usually reproduced as 'print-outs' which are used during the treatment plan visit as an aid in explaining/showing a patient (or parent of a patient) what the teeth looked like during the examination and then also in explaining the need of suggested or recommended care. These images are also available for legal and/or law enforcement officials in case of emergency and / or need of identification.
